If I'm going out on a Sunday, it better be a worthy gimmick. I was invited to attend a safety seminar by Mr and Mrs. Ivan Ison in Paranaque City Hall, sponsored by the City government and by the Paranaque Riders Federation Inc.
I was expecting a handful of new learners but was quite surprised by the number of people gathered to listen to the seminars.
Of course the sight of a couple of good community friends are always a welcome surprise. Arangkada Chairman and my fraternity brother Rod Cruz was there as a guest speaker. Mr. Goku Ortiz of Maico Buncio Foundation was also there. Titan of XRCP and also of Arangkada welcomed yours truly to the event. Of course The Isons, Mr. Ivan and Mrs. "Mamapong" Edelyn was there to oversee the event.
It was quite a happy surprise to see my good friend and a real soon to be legend motocross racer and now safety coach Mr. Mel Aquino. That was the nth time I saw and witnessed Mel conduct a safety seminar and still impresses me every time. He is a good coach and talks sensible and a real rockstar.
After the instructional session, Mel invited the riders outside for some real demonstration of what he's talking about. He demo'ed proper acceleration, braking and the three types of cornering namely: lean with, lean in and lean out. It was mesmerizing seeing Mel do his magic in the streets.
Of course for an additional fun, as I always say, no event should exists without holding raffles. Spyder raffled off one full face helmet and one lucky winner get to go home with it.
Kudos to PRFI for a successful event and looking forward to the next!
