Mindanao Freedom Ride 2014

The 3rd Mindanao Freedom Ride, organized by Norminring Motorbikes saw its biggest contingent of 107 core riders who are all using high displacement bikes.  Primo Café and Grille acted as breakfast, final briefing place, and flag-off point of the riders, and so as the final destination after 4 days of traveling together.

The riders first stop was the humongous welcome marker of Davao Oriental, then next to the Subangan Museum in Mati where a massive 53-foot remain of a sperm whale, Davor (combining Davao Oriental) is displayed.  Another massive thing that we got to look at is the sleeping dinosaur also in Mati, not really a living lizard but an island shaped like one.  Lastly, The Mindanao Saga Flying Club raffled off three slots to try the exhilarating ultralight planes.  But the real highlight of the day was when the Mindanao Riders donated P150,000.00 cash for the building of a multipurpose stage for the San Rafael Elementary School in Cateel.  The day ended in Country Inn in Bislig, Surigao del Sur

The second day, the rider got to try hydro massage in the Tinuy-An falls.  Boodlefight lunch was served in Enchanted River where after eating we got to swim with the big fishes in the cool, clear, brackish water.  A few minutes of viewing the Britannia Group of Islands were enjoyed by the riders at the DPWH rest stop, and finally capping the night in Villa Maria Lusia Hotel.
Day three saw the riders admiring the scape from DPWH rest stop in Carrascal, Surigao del Sur and lunch was in Surigao City.  While the final sleeping place was in Almont Hotel, a socialization night was held in Rodeo Bull in Butuan.

The last day of riding, the riders had their lunch in Patin-Ay, Agusan del Sur and a stop in Trento.  The final destination was back to Davao’s Primo Café and Grille.  The night saw the finishers’ party filled with great music, much-deserved booze and congratulatory chatter among friends.  Spyder raffled off 2 pairs of eyewear and 2 pairs of helmet to the much delighted winners.  A grand raffle of Piaggio Typhoon was given to a lucky rider from Cotabato.

All in all, the Mindanao Freedom Ride’s main purpose was to showcase the beauty of Mindanao and how rider-friendly the roads are.
